Travel smarter,

not harder

Our team has created a cutting-edge app that simplifies the often-challenging task of traveling in Mexico City.

What problem is Urbvan trying to solve?

The lack of efficient and reliable transportation options for commuters

Traveling in Mexico City can be challenging due to the city's sheer size, traffic congestion, and lack of adequate transportation infrastructure.

Whose problem am I solving?

People who do not normally use traditional public transportation

Targeted towards professionals, students, and other individuals who need to travel to work or school on a daily basis.

Problem statement

How might we optimize the commuting experience for users in Mexico City and reduce the waste of time, unreliable transportation, and inefficient route planning?

Some ideas we had

Suggested trips

Utilizes advanced algorithms and machine learning to analyze user data, such as past travel history, preferred activities, and user ratings, to generate intelligent and tailored trip suggestions.

ETA routes

Users can easily access information about transportation routes, estimated travel times, and even book tickets.

Interactive map

Offer interactive maps and walking ETA, making it easy for users to visualize the route and plan their journey.

Sketch & Wireframes

With the proper planning, we were able to confidently move into creating wireframes for the app. With this wireframe, we have done weekly reviews with PMs and engineering partners along with weekly testing with users.

Design iterations

I carried out multiple design revisions influenced by input from fellow designers, associate PMs, and engineers. Through each revision, we refined our approach, establishing trust in our solution and leading to user testing.

Suggested trips

We wanted to create a seamless and familiar experience for our users, akin to using Google Maps for navigation.

Starting with the user's origin point, whether it's their home or office, we aimed to take it a step further by incorporating the power of machine learning to suggest the best route possible.

Quick access through suggested trips

Set up your reservation

We provide accurate estimates of the travel duration from your location to the station and onwards to your destination

To help you plan efficiently, we provide real-time insights into the estimated travel duration from your current location to the station and onward to your destination.

ETAs

By providing ETAs at key touchpoints, users can have a complete and seamless experience from start to finish. This addition ensures transparency, improves planning, and enhances user satisfaction.

Contactless Boarding Pass

From the moment you activate it, our Contactless Boarding Pass dynamically and in real-time displays relevant information for your journey.

It begins by showing your trip origin along with the estimated time of arrival (ETA), allowing you to plan your departure with confidence.

Emotion-base Feedback

At the end of the trip, users can rate the van, the driver, or the overall journey based on five emotions. This insightful feedback helps identify areas for improvement, ensuring a good experience tailored to their needs.

Takeaways & Next Steps

Throughout this experience, I gained insights into the tendencies and common challenges faced by Urbvan app users. While the app doesn't aim to replace traditional transportation systems, its purpose is to provide a seamless digital journey for people to easily navigate cities and improve their daily travels.
